Vamos town is the capital of the eparchy and is located 26 kms from Chania , south east.
Vamos occupies a central position and has existed since the Venetian period as well as the scene of many battles during the uprisings of the 19th century.Situated at the centre of Apokoronas peninsula has an easy access to all the surrounding villages and beaches such as Georgioupolis on the eastand Kalive and Almirida on the west.
It is a good choice for holidays away from mass tourism but with many tourist facilities provided ( health clinic, supermarkets, Pharmacy, taverns etc).
The town has many restored traditional houses as well as the exhibition hall Fambrika which is a restored old oil-press.
