Kolymvari in Chania
Kolimvari lies 25 kms west of Chania and it used to be a fishing village with significant history which is now fast being developed
into a seaside resort with a long sand and pebble beach stretching all the way to Chania on the east.
There is a new marina, public gardens and some very popular fish taverns.
Close to the village lies the Odigitria monastery, one of the most important resistance centres against Turks.
The Orthodox Academy of Crete operates close to the monastery and actively participates to the social and religious development of the island.
